People love mango and often incorporate it into their meals, especially for dessert making. However, because it requires ideal conditions for this plant to flourish, not every country can cater to those requirements. The sweet taste of the flesh is mouth-watering and addicting to enjoy just it is. The health benefits of mango can prevent many dangerous illnesses. Some of them are to lower bad cholesterol, keep you away from cancer, promote weight loss, and many more. Considering the high market demand for mango to these countries leads to the core of why we export.
The Background – How These Mango Exporting Countries Exist
Many countries have been exporting for three major reasons: to increase employment, to promote economic growth, and to earn foreign exchange. On the flip side, other countries also rely so much on imports to survive their living condition and to fulfill the needs of the citizens.
As mentioned previously, there are three significances of exporting. We will elaborate further on each, below.
- To increase employment: when exports are going through an increase, a rise in domestic production will also follow. Hence, it will demand more domestic labor that will support the employment of a country.
- To promote economic growth: during an economic recession, there’s a significant decline in all economic sectors; Gross Domestic Product (GDP) goes to almost if not a negative rate. There’s a high unemployment rate and decreased retail sales as consumers are unwilling to make their purchases. When a country is in this terrible state, exports play a role in spurring the economic sector. This is because consumers in other states are inclined to buy. Moreover, the increase in net exports number will add up to a more positive GDP for the nation. Thus, the country can survive the economic recession.
- To earn foreign exchange: dollar especially serves as an international currency that is an important medium of payment in international trades. One of the ways to earn it is by exports. This is why exports are essential in a thriving nation. In its absence, it’s impossible for a nation to import necessary commodities.
